In-person home visits:
If you live within 30 miles of me, I can travel to you for an in-person home visit. In-home visits are always preferred when you are having latching difficulties or supply problems in order to get a full, comprehensive assessment. I do charge a travel fee to cover the time and costs associated with reaching your location.

Virtual consultations:
I now offer virtual consults via Zoom, FaceTime, or a secure network via TLN, whichever is easier for you to access. There is no additional travel charge for virtual visits. Prenatal and breastfeeding consultations are both offered virtually. Virtual consultations are a great option when you live outside my service area or if you have minor breastfeeding difficulties. You do miss out on the hands-on element of consultations.

What can you expect to learn or gain from a consultation?
For prenatal consultations, this is a one-on-one breastfeeding class. This is all you need to know about the basics of breastfeeding in one class!
It is important to learn how to breastfeed BEFORE you deliver your baby. You can imagine how difficult it could be to learn a new skill after running a 24 hour+ marathon (labor) or having a major surgery (Cesarean section birth). In this state, you will most likely be exhausted mentally and physically and you probably just want to soak in all those blissful newborn moments. However, you need to feed that baby and breastfeeding (although natural) does not usually come easy for most people. It is a learned SKILL.

In a prenatal consultation, you will learn how to start a successful breastfeeding journey to reach your breastfeeding goals.
You should expect to learn the following:
-
how to hand express and collect colostrum
-
use of breast pumps
-
how to choose and obtain a breast pump from insurance
-
when and how to use nipple shields and everters
-
breastfeeding positions based on YOUR breasts
-
nipple care and how to prevent sore and damaged nipples
-
breast milk storage guidelines
-
ANY other concerns you may have
For breastfeeding consultations, this is for breastfeeding moms who are having challenges and need help. Together, we will work to reach your breastfeeding goals and work toward solutions for problems you may be experiencing. We will explore your concerns and make a feeding plan specific to your goals and needs.
Breastfeeding concerns we can address in a breastfeeding consultation include but are not limited to:
-
low milk supply
-
overactive milk ejection reflex
-
perceived insufficient supply
-
return to work

infant "popping off" and unable to maintain a latch
-

-
